Q The app runs slowly, the screen freezes, or the app crashes.
(e.g., while drawing, importing an image, using the Blur tool, adding text, or viewing My Gallery)
A There are several possible reasons why the app may become unstable.
Please try the following solutions in order, starting with the most likely causes.
-
Possible Insufficient Memory (RAM)
ibisPaint uses your device’s memory (RAM) when creating and editing artworks.
If your canvas size is large or you are using many layers, performance issues such as lag, freezing, or crashes may occur depending on your device’s specifications.
Possible solutions:
- Restart your device.
- Close other apps (especially apps running in the background).
- Create a new artwork with a smaller canvas size (for example, SD size) and check whether it works normally.
- If you are using cloud storage, wait until synchronization is complete.
* During synchronization, performance may temporarily decrease. This is not caused by insufficient RAM.
-
The app crashes when importing an image
If the app crashes when importing an image, it may be due to insufficient memory on your device.
Possible solutions:
- Restart your device..
- Update ibisPaint to the latest version.
- Create a new canvas with a smaller size (such as SD size) and import a smaller image.
- Reduce the number of layers by deleting or merging them before importing the image.
-
High Processing Load from Certain Brushes or Tools
When the Blur tool is used, performance may decrease because it consumes a large amount of device resources, especially under the following conditions:
- Large canvas size
- Many layers
- Large brush size
Possible solutions:
- Reduce the brush size.
- Apply blur in smaller sections instead of all at once.
- Reduce the canvas size or the number of layers if possible.
Performance issues may also occur with specific brushes depending on the brush type or settings.
Possible solutions:
- Switch to a different brush and check if the issue improves.
- Reduce the brush size.
- Open the brush settings and select Reset Brush.
-
Freezing When Using the Text Tool
If the app freezes while adding text, the font being used may be the cause.
Possible solutions:
- Switch to a different font and check if the issue improves.
- If the issue occurs with an added font, open the font list in the Text tool, tap the “...” next to the font, select Delete to uninstall it, then reinstall the font.
- If the issue persists, go to Settings on the title screen and select Uninstall Fonts.
* This will uninstall all added fonts. Please reinstall any fonts you wish to use again.
-
Freezing When Viewing My Gallery
Temporary issues may cause the app to freeze when displaying My Gallery.
Possible solutions:
- Completely close the app and launch it again.
- Restart your device.
< Close the application (iPhone/iPad) >
1. Return to the Home screen.
2. Open the list of running apps.
3. Flick up the thumbnail of ibisPaint.
4. Return to the Home screen.
5. Start ibisPaint.
< Close the application (Android) >
1. Return to the Home screen.
2. Display the list of apps.
3. Flick ibisPaint to the side to delete it.
4. Return to the Home screen.
5. Start ibisPaint.

Issues Caused by Advertisements
In some cases, loading or displaying advertisements may affect app performance.
Possible solutions:
- Enable Airplane Mode and use the app to check whether the issue improves.
* Features that require an internet connection will not be available while Airplane Mode is enabled.
If the issue persists after trying all of the above, please contact us with the following information:
- Device model
- OS version
- UUID
- Canvas size
- Number of layers
- Brushes or tools in use
- A screen recording or screenshot showing where the issue occurs (for example, during drawing, text input, or in My Gallery)
This information will help us investigate the issue more accurately.
