Is it illegal to trace or copy someone’s artwork?
A.
If you trace or copy someone else's artwork and submit it, it is an infringement of copyright because it does not apply to private use.
Therefore, as stated in our Terms of Service, ibisPaint prohibit such activities.
It is also mentioned on the About Uploading page.
However, there are cases where permission for use has been obtained from the rights holders and some rights holders recently tend to allow the secondary use.
Therefore, even though we check uploaded artwork, sometimes it may be difficult for us to check all of them and remove problematic artworks at our discretion.
If there is a dispute over copyrights or other intellectual property rights, please resolve it between the user and the rights holder as stated in the Terms of Service. We will not be involved in this.
However, if there is a complaint from the rights holder, we may remove the artwork after investigation.
